3:1 and Co Teaching Model
Teaching using a 3:1 model, students are able to learn social students content from Mrs.Miller and science content from Mrs.Madden. Many of the content allows for cross curricular work and partnership with other students. Students will often be working across both classrooms and a variety of teaching methods are used.
The dynamic use of both classrooms allows for students to be empowered by their learning.

Nonfiction Reading and Writing
In order to make our learning meaningful, we often times combine the units of social studies and science. Students learn about the regions of the United States and with their nonfiction skills, we often combine the hands-on experience with the research.
Examples of projects include, animal lap books, board games that use electrical circuits, and parade floats showing potential and kinetic energy. Students use research techniques such as: evaluating resources, note taking, drafting, revising, editing, using technology like Glogster and citing resources.
